ARNOLD, Md. — The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team scored eight first-half goals and cruised past Howard Community College, 10–1, in Region 20 play Wednesday evening at Siegert Field.
Emma Miga recorded her third hat trick of the season in the first half of the game. Alyssa Simms added two goals and two assists, while Reagan Chilton chipped in with a goal and two helpers.
The Riverhawks (5–3, 3–1 Region 20) wasted no time getting on the board. Miga netted the opener in the fourth minute and assisted Simms less than a minute later. Maddie Raynes added a 13th-minute strike off a setup from Julia Young to make it 3–0.
Howard briefly pulled one back through Kaily Ok in the 17th, ending the Riverhawks' shutout streak of 270:53 spanning five games, but AACC poured it on from there. Miga scored her second in the 24th, followed by Simms' second tally two minutes later, assisted by Chloe Underwood. Eleyna Entsminger converted in the 27th and Chilton buried another in the 34th. Miga capped her first-half hat trick in the 44th minute for an 8–1 advantage
Anne Arundel added two more after the break. McKenzie Gilbert scored her first of the season in the 51st minute, assisted by Chilton, before Riley Sheets wrapped up the scoring in the 64th.
AACC outshot Howard 41–2, including a 27–1 edge in shots on goal, and was undeterred by a staggering 15 offsides calls against them.
Keeper Ryleigh Smoot went the full 70 minutes, facing just one shot. Howard's goalkeepers combined for 17 saves against the relentless Riverhawk attack.
AACC has now won three-straight Region 20 games and returns to action at home on Tuesday, September 23, hosting Harford Community College at 5 p.m.
