AACC Athletics Hall of Fame

Purpose 

To give lasting recognition to those individuals (student-athletes, coaches, staff, faculty) and teams who have made exceptional contributions to the achievements and prestige of Anne Arundel Community College in the field of athletics, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values imparted by intercollegiate athletics. PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Development, Excellence)

Committee

Athletic Director (Chair), Assistant Athletic Director/SID (max of 2), Faculty Representative, SAAC Representative, Athletic Staff (max of 2 additional), Two Head Coaches, Non-athletic staff representative (max of 2), HOF inductees as necessary. All positions appointment and approved by the chair.

Cycle

Reviewed annually. Each nominee will be considered for up to five (5) years if not selected. Following the fifth year, the candidate must be nominated again. Inductions as deemed necessary.


Hall of Fame Criteria

Separation

  • Student-Athlete: Separated from the school 5+ years ago w/high academic standing
  • Coach/Staff/Faculty: Retired/departed institution 5+ years
  • Team: Separated from the school 5+ years

Athletic Achievement

  • Competed for at least one complete season
  • Overall performance in sport (not one performance)
  • Earned postseason recognition from conference, region or national office
  • Performed at a level of athletic excellence which meets the standards set by the committee
  • Teams must have finished the season in third place or higher.

 Other Achievement

  • Athletic achievement is most important, but character and good citizenship during both attendance and upon transfer/completion will be taken into consideration
  • Exhibited character and integrity through his/her success and outstanding contribution to varsity athletics at AACC
  • Significant contributions to the community at large while at AACC or since departing AACC may also be a factor in selection
  • Good sportsmanship and leadership skills while a student-athlete
  • Serve with distinction
  • Pre- and Post-institution achievements can factor in as long as they fall within the sphere of athletic achievement and bear some connection of the nominee’s athletic career at AACC
  • Exhibited tremendous service to AACC athletics and/or student-athletes.
