Four From Women's Soccer Named All-Region 20

ARNOLD, Md. – Four members of the Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team have been named All-Region 20, it was announced this week. Sophomores Tina Tinelli and Makenzie Boyd repeat as First Team selections. Freshman Emma Miga joins them on the First Team, while freshman Eden Abey was named Honorable Mention.

Boyd, a midfielder, directed the Riverhawks' offense and totaled 18 points on eight goals and two assists in 15 starts. The sophomore recorded a hat trick against Hagerstown and had a pair of assists against Potomac State. She scored AACC's first goal in the Region 20 championship game and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Tinelli anchored the defense which held opponents to a .123 shot percentage and a lowly 5.4 shots on goal per game. Her powerful kicks led to four goals and a pair of assists on the season. She scored the game-winner in a key regular season win over Garrett, and assisted the go-ahead goal in the District Championship game. Tinelli was also named to the Region 20 All-Tournament Team.

Miga led the Riverhawks in points, goals, and assists this season. She led Region 20 with 11 assists, and ranked second in points (41), and third in goals (15) – all in just 12 games played. Miga was named the Region 20 Player of the Month for October after averaging five points per game. She scored two goals and had two assists in the Region 20 tournament, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Miga factored into all four Riverhawks goals in AACC's District Championship win with two goals and two assists.

Abey was also key in AACC's back line, and was often tasked with guarding the opponent's top players. In the Region 20 championship game, Abey limited the Region's top scorer to three shots on goal.

AACC won both the Region 20 and East District titles and will open pool play at the NJCAA Division II Championships on Monday, November 18 Rock Valley at 12:30 p.m. CT.
