DI Harford Slips Past Women's Soccer in Season Opener

BEL AIR, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team opened the 2024 season with a 1-0 loss at Division I Harford Community College Tuesday evening. Holly Wall made 12 saves in her debut in goal.

Soraya Ramirez scored the lone goal of the game in the 41st minute. She carried the ball up the near side from midfield before dodging a pair of defenders and sending her shot past the diving Wall.

The best chance for the Riverhawks (0-1) came in the 81st minute. McKenzie Gilbert sent in a direct kick from just outside the 18 that hit the crossbar.

Wall made six saves in each half. Harford took 33 shots in the game with 13 going on net. AACC had five shots on net among 11 total shots. Harford led in corner kicks, 5-0.

AACC travels to Holyoke, Mass., this weekend for a pair of games in the Holyoke CC Cougar Classic. The Riverhawks face New Hampshire Technical Institute Saturday at noon and Fashion Institute of Technology Sunday at 12 p.m.
