ARNOLD, Md. – Despite outshooting visiting College of Southern Maryland, 15-8, the Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team tied the Hawks, 1-1, Tuesday in NJCAA Region 20 action at Siegert Field. Madelynn Rowe scored the lone goal for the Riverhawks (6-3-2).
Rowe one-timed a cross from Makenzie Boyd in the 17th minute for her second goal of the season. The assist marked Boyd's team-leading fourth on the year.
Southern Maryland was awarded a penalty kick in the 49th minute after a collision in the box. Megan Hinton scored on her attempt past AACC keeper McKenzie Lanham. Lanham finished with five saves in the game.
AACC had a multitude of chances late in the second half. A free kick from Tina Tinelli was punched over the crossbar in the 71st minute, setting up the Riverhawks for a corner set. Aiyanna Pullins had a great header off the kick by Megan Miller, but again the CSM keeper was up to task.
Jasmine Godinez, who played in the field in the game, had a wide open attempt in the 89th minute, but her shot went high above the crossbar.
AACC is back in action on Tuesday, October 10, in a 6 p.m. game against CCBC Essex.
