LA PLATA, MD -- The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team dropped its season opener, 6-1, against Southern Maryland Thursday afternoon. Cassidy Smith scored the lone goal for the Riverhawks in the 40th minute of the game.
Smith's goal cut CSM's lead in half, but the Hawks scored one more time in the first half to carry a 3-1 lead into the break.
Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Kenney made 11 saves in her Riverhawks' debut.
AACC returns to action on Saturday, August 27, when they host Union College in the Riverhawks' home opener.
