
DUNDALK, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team fell to Division I Harford Community College, 70-52, Wednesday evening in Region 20 action at CCBC Dundalk. The Riverhawks (2-5) recorded a season-high 16 steals in the game.
Ryan Stacy led AACC with 17 points, with a 7-for-9 performance at the free-throw line and had three assists and a pair of steals. Zef Fuanya added eight points with three steals and an assist.
A chaotic first half saw both teams shoot well below 30%, with a combined 18 turnovers and 44 rebounds. Harford used a 14-2 run midway through the frame to take the lead for good. Stacy hit a jump shot at the end of the first half to cut the Owls' lead to single digits as the teams headed to the locker room with Harford ahead, 29-20.
Harford's shooting settled in the second half, but AACC's defense forced 11 of 12 Owls' turnovers in the stanza. Fuanya started the second half by completing a three-point play, but the Owls responded with one of their own before creating distance with an 11-0 run. With a little over six minutes to play, Fuanya sparked an AACC rally with a three-pointer, as the Riverhawks went on an 11-0 run to get within 14 points.
AACC manufactured 20 points off of the Owls' 23 turnovers, but Harford's 68-30 rebounding advantage led to 25 second-chance points for the visitors.
The Riverhawks close out the 2024 calendar year Saturday, December 14, with a 3 p.m. Region 20 game at CCAC.
