Men's Basketball Drops Pair of Games at Weekend Tourney

EDISON, N.J. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team dropped a pair of weekend games at the Shannon William Classic, hosted by Middlesex College. The Riverhawks fell to Monroe-Bronx, 68-64, on Saturday, and were topped, 68-45, by the host Colts on Sunday.

Saturday vs Monroe-Bronx

The Riverhawks trailed by three at halftime and pulled within one late in the game, but fell to the Express by four. Sophomore Miles Evans scored a career-high 24 points with nine buckets, two three-pointers, and a 4-for-4 effort from the line. Zef Fuanya and Ryan Stacy each score 11 points. Devon Marshall pulled down 10 rebounds.

Sunday vs. Middlesex

AACC limited No. 23 Middlesex to just 68 points – well below the Colts' 86.7 points per game average -- but the Riverhawks' offense struggled in the second half, scoring just 19 points in the frame. Fuanya had 15 points in the game on 6-for-13 shooting with a pair of three-pointers; Stacy shot 5-for-8 from the floor and sank five of six free throws to total 13 points. Angelo Harris added six points and eight rebounds.

AACC opens Region 20 play with back-to-back games next week. The Riverhawks travel to Prince George's Tuesday and then host Garrett at CCBC Catonsville Wednesday.
