Late Dundalk Swing Tops Men's Basketball

DUNDALK, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team gave up an early lead to host CCBC Dundalk Tuesday evening at the Lions Den, falling to the hosts, 88-76. AACC led by four at halftime, but Dundalk used several runs to hold on for the win.

Kris Peet paced AACC with a 24-point, 13-rebound double-double, adding two steals and a pair of blocks. Jeremiah Stroman added 21 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Devon Marshall scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds while dishing a game-high five assists. Zef Fuanya also scored nine points in a 3-for-7 effort from three-point range.

The Riverhawks (9-15) got into a hole early, trailing 12-1, until Peet completed a three-point play to spark AACC's offense. The Riverhawks rallied, taking the lead on a Fuanya three-pointer just prior to the midway point of the first half. The trey was one of three on the night for Fuanya.

Dundalk (15-10) then went hot, pouring in 13 points in a four-minute span while holding AACC scoreless to move into a double-digit lead, 32-21. The momentum immediately shifted back to the Riverhawks, who rattled off a 9-0 run, tying up the game on a Devon Marshall putback with just over two minutes remaining. In the final minute of the half, AACC sank a pair of free throws and saw Angelo Harris sink a dunk with one tick left on the clock to send the Riverhawks to the locker room up four, 41-37.

AACC opened up the second half extending its lead to eight points before the momentum shifted back in Dundalk's favor, seeing the Lions use a 10-0 run to go up by two. Stroman hit a jumper to tie but Dundalk went back up four within the next 20 seconds. AACC got back to within one on a Marshall free throw before the Lions went on another 10-0 run to take back a double-digit lead.

Turnovers proved costly for the Riverhawks, whose 16 giveaways led to 26 Dundalk points. The Lions' bench was a key factor, scoring more than half of Dundalk's points thanks in part to a 30-point effort from Shakur Smith.

AACC plays its regular season finale on the road Saturday, February 17, when they face Division I Allegany College of Maryland at 3 p.m.
