Chase Lifts Men's Basketball Past Southern Maryland

LA PLATA, MD – Sophomore Joseph Chase sank a three-pointer with 2.9 seconds left to lift the Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball past host College of Southern Maryland, 81-78, Wednesday evening.

Chase had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, shooting six of eight from the floor and two of three from three-point range. He filled the stats sheet with six assists and five steals. Michael Cantrell led AACC with 19 points and six assists, while Davon Jones added 18 points including a 10 of 12 effort from the charity stripe. Jamar Young also scored in double digits with 12 points.

The Riverhawks jumped out to a big lead before the Hawks chipped away to tie it, 35-35, at halftime, burning through four time outs in the frame. Chase's heroics lifted Anne Arundel to the three-point win, marking AACC's the third win in the last fourth MDJUCO games.

Anne Arundel is back in action in a 5:30 pm at Navy against the JV squad on Tuesday, February 10.
