WYE MILLS, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team opened the season with a five-set victory at Chesapeake Wednesday evening. The win marks the seventh in a row over the Skipjacks for the Riverhawks.
Chesapeake won the first and third sets, taking the middle frame by a score of 27-25. AACC stormed back with a 25-15 fourth set and held on for a 15-12 win in the final game.
Jadyn Brown had a career-high 11 kills in the match to go with three service aces. Lluvia Owens-Pabon added nine kills, 24 digs, and a pair of block assists. Nadia Suber had eight kills and a pair of block assists in her collegiate debut. Mia Keen had 25 assists and 27 digs to go with seven kills and seven aces. Liv Valdez totaled 33 digs.
Next up, AACC (1-0) hosts Hagerstown and Garrett College in a tri-match on Saturday, September 7. The Riverhawks will face the Hawks at 10 a.m. and the Lakers at 2 p.m.
