Women's Basketball Topped in Weekend Tournament

EDISON, N.J. – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team dropped a pair of weekend games at the Shannon William Classic, hosted by Middlesex College. The Riverhawks fell to the host Colts, 84-51, on Saturday, and were topped, 110-70, by the Lions on Sunday.

Saturday vs Middlesex

The Riverhawks were down 10 at halftime, but a big Middlesex third quarter put the game out of reach. Lania Nick led AACC with 22 points and four steals. Aichatta Soumaoro added 16 points and seven defensive rebounds.

Sunday vs. Raritan Valley

Nick poured in a career-high 31 points as the Riverhawks put up their highest offensive total of the season so far. Aichatta Soumaoro added a career-high 22 points. Ayannah Gorham recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 boards. Reona Robinson pulled down 14 rebounds and had three assists.

AACC opens Region 20 play with back-to-back games next week. The Riverhawks travel to Prince George's Tuesday and then host Garrett at CCBC Catonsville Wednesday.
