Women's Basketball Falls in Region XX Title Game

WESTMORELAND, PA – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team closed out the season in the NJCAA Region XX Championship, falling to top-seeded Prince George's Community College, 74-60, Sunday afternoon.

Autumn Foster-Fields, who led AACC in scoring today with 16 points, was named to the All-Tournament Team. Foster-Fields recorded her third-straight double-double with 11 rebounds and added three assists. Sarah Healy recorded her fourth-straight double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Sydney Woodland joined the duo in double-digit scoring with 12 points, adding three assists.

AACC led briefly at the start of the game, which featured four ties and four lead changes all in the first quarter before the Owls started to build momentum. Trailing by eight headed into the second, AACC cut the deficit to six, but then Prince George's used an 8-3 run to bring the advantage back into double digits, ending the half with a 41-27 advantage.

On paper the game was evenly matched throughout the second half, but AACC couldn't make up ground. Prince George's extended the lead to 19 by the 2:40 mark of the third, and despite an 8-2 run to close out the quarter, AACC still trailed by 14 at the buzzer.

The Riverhawks ran into foul touble late, ending the game with four players on the court in the 74-60 final.

AACC (11-15) outrebounded Prince George's at a 48-42 clip, but couldn't translate 21 offensive boards into more than 16 second-chance points. AACC committed 21 turnovers, giving up 15 points off their miscues.
