
ARNOLD, MD – Sophomore Sarah Healy recorded her fourth consecutive double-double as the Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team upended 10th-ranked Brookdale Community College, 78-64, Saturday afternoon at Jenkins Gym. Healy scored 21 points to go with 15 rebounds as the Riverhawks improve to 1-1 on the year.
Autumn Foster-Fields finished just shy of a double-double with 25 points and nine boards on 11-of-16 shooting, including a 13-point effort in the second quarter. Freshman Jasmine Schouster added 14 points in 20 minutes on the floor.
Brookdale took an early lead, but AACC poured in 28 second-quarter points to carry a 41-37 lead into halftime. The momentum stayed in the Riverhawks' favor for the rest of the game as they posted their first win over a ranked opponent since January of 2018 (No. 8 Onondaga).
AACC shot 44% on the day, and outrebounded the Jersey Blues, 48-44, including a 31-27 lead off the defensive glass. The Riverhawks converted 24 Brookdale turnovers into 32 points, and outscored the Jersey Blues in the paint, 52-42.
The Riverhawks host Camden County Thursday at 6 pm before traveling to the Westmoreland Tip off Tournament for a pair of games against the Wolfpack this weekend.
