Three From Softball Named All-Region

Three members of the Anne Arundel Community College softball team have been named All-Region 20 it was announced Thursday. Sophomore Kendall Thomas was named to the first team at designated player. Freshman Addi Hurst earned a second team nod at outfield, and sophomore Jayden Buchanan earned a spot on the honorable mention team at infield/outfield.

Thomas repeats on the Region 20 first team after leading the Riverhawks with a .473 batting average and .500 on base percentage. She split time between first base, pitcher, and designated player. Thomas had 14 multi-hit games and drove in 26 runs, striking out just twice in 91 at bats. She made 19 starts in the circle, picking up five wins with 50 strikeouts. Thomas closes out her two-year career at AACC with a .486 batting average, 87 hits, and 55 RBI.

Hurst makes her first appearance on the All-Region teams with a .434 batting average. She led the Riverhawks with 12 extra base hits, including four home runs. Hurst started the season on a six-game hit streak before missing six games with an injury. She came back to record 10 multi hit games to total 13 on the year. Hurst posted a 495 on base percentage and stole four bases in 29 games.

Buchanan earns her first All-Region honors after starting all 35 games for the Riverhawks. She recorded a .362 batting average with 38 hits including seven doubles, driving in 18 runs. Buchanan had 12 multi-hit games, and struck out just four times in 105 at bats. She wraps up her AACC career with a .333 batting average on 54 hits in 56 career games.

AACC finished the season with a 9-26 record with Region 20 wins over Howard, Butler County, Westmoreland, and Cecil.
