
ARNOLD, Md. – Sophomore Brian Guillen scored four goals to lead the Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team to a 5-2 victory over visiting Cecil College in Region 20 divisional action at Siegert Field. The win extends the Riverhawks unbeaten streak to four games.
Guillen opened the scoring in the ninth minute, and after two goals from the Seahawks, he struck again with goals in the 21st and 39th minutes. Ednel Marchany added a goal in the 40th minute to send AACC into halftime with a 4-2 lead before Guillen capped the scoring in the 83rd minute off an assist from Marchany.
Reed Kimmell picked up the assist on Guillen's first goal, sending the ball to Guillen in the center of the field from just inside the near sideline. Guillen settled the pass before firing inside the far post.
Ever Santos assisted Guillen's second goal, as he played the ball up through two defenders for Guillen to one-time in and knot the game at 2-all.
Guillen collected a pass from Santos and made several moves around Cecil players as he ran up the field, scoring from the near post side in the 39th minute.
Marchany nailed a free kick from almost 30 yards out just over a minute later to make it 4-2 headed into halftime.
Marchany played a cross to Guillen as the pair crashed the net for Guillen's fourth goal in the 83rd minute.
Starting keeper Jayeim Blake earned the win for AACC with three first-half saves. Olvin Martinez saved the only shot he faced in the second half.
AACC outshot Cecil at a 19-9 clip, and recorded eight fouls to the Seahawks' 20. Cecil was whistled for eight cautions in the game, while AACC was assessed four.
The Riverhawks travel to CCBC Catonsville Tuesday for a pivotal NJCAA Region 20 divisional matchup with the Cardinals at 5 p.m.
