ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the final eight minutes of the game to secure a 5-3 win over visiting Allegany College of Maryland in Region 20 divisional action at Siegert Field Tuesday evening. Brian Guillen scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute and assisted two others in the game.
Chris Moreira scored twice, Paul Zimmerman scored his first career goal and added an assist, and Oliver Rivas scored a goal. Henry Guillen, Charlie Meehan, and Tomi Akinselure picked up assists.
Zimmerman set up the game-winner by maneuvering through several defenders up the sideline before crossing the ball to Meehan, who tapped it up to Guillen for the finish.
Rivas added an insurance goal in the 88th minute. Henry Guillen sent in a free kick from just over the midfield line for Rivas to collect and send just inside the post from mere steps outside the box.
Moreira opened the scoring in the 12th minute, slipping a pass from Brian Guillen under the Trojans' diving keeper.
In the 38th minute, a long throw in just past midfield for the Trojans sailed between two defenders to fins the foot of Cameron Beck, who crossed it to Nathaniel Klemm for the one-touch goal.
Zimmerman gave the Riverhawks back the lead in the 41st minute. Akinselure sent up a long ball from midfield which found Zimmerman for an impossibly low angle shot across the goal mouth.
ACM's Riley McCutcheon finished off a header by Caedon Wallace less than a minute later to send the teams into halftime tied, 2-2.
Moreira put AACC back ahead by putting in a rebound from Brian Guillen that had clanged off the crossbar in the 54th minute.
The Trojans again answered back to tie it up in the 59th minute. The AACC keeper came way out to play the ball, but his attempt to head the ball went back toward the net. Klemm headed the ball across to Maylin Gunby, who scored in the open net.
AACC outshot Allegany, 24-8, in the game. Riverhawks' starting keeper Jayeim Blake allowed two goals in the first half. Olvin Martinez earned the win with three second-half saves.
The Riverhawks are back in action on Thursday, October 10, in a 5 p.m. divisional game against Cecil College at Siegert Field.
