BEL AIR, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team opened the season at Division I Harford Tuesday evening. Starting goalkeeper Olvin Martinez made 11 saves in 67 minutes of action as the Riverhawks fell, 12-0 to the Fighting Owls.
AACC (0-1) had a couple of scoring opportunities early in the second half, highlighted by a sequence from Mani Awah and Brian Guillen in the 53rd minute. Awah had a free kick from more than 35 yards out that was blocked by a Harford player, but he charged through his shot and regained control. He passed the ball ahead to Israel Argueta Henriquez, who tapped over to Guillen for a left-footed shot through two defenders.
Harford (2-0) scored six goals in each half and got hat tricks from Rex Pearce and Matteo Corazza.
Carlos Ramirez-Flores played the final 24 minutes in net for AACC, making two saves and allowing five goals. Martinez allowed seven goals and made 11 saves in the start.
AACC hosts Division I Hagerstown in the Riverhawks' home opener at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 5.
