Drew Belcher Tabbed to Lead Men's Soccer

ARNOLD, Md. – Anne Arundel Community College Athletic Director Duane Herr '07 has announced the appointment of Drew Belcher as head coach of the Riverhawks' men's soccer program. Belcher previously served as an assistant with the Riverhawks for the last two seasons.

"I'm excited to be named head coach of the AACC men's soccer program," said Belcher. "I will continue the stewardship and leadership both Coach Nick [Cosentino] and Coach Ken [Wolf] have provided over the last 50 years. We will continue to bring a high level of soccer focused on individual improvement leading to overall team development and success," added Belcher. "Expect an elevated pace of play determined by an attacking mindset coupled with defensive responsibilities. I am looking forward to bridging the past with the future plans we have set for the program. Let's go Riverhawks!"

Belcher replaces Nick Cosentino, who departed the position for other professional opportunities after serving as AACC's head coach for 18 seasons.

"Coach Belcher brings a wealth of experience within Anne Arundel County and brings a welcomed feeling of continuity in his transition to head coach," said Herr. "Coach Belcher is a mainstay within the local soccer and Anne Arundel Community College soccer communities, as his sons Will, Eli, and Ethan have all suited up for the Riverhawks. We are excited for the continued growth of the program under Coach Belcher's leadership."

Belcher has coached and developed hundreds of players from Anne Arundel County and Maryland over the last 15 years, sending them to all levels of college and university. He is currently the head coach of the Christos FC men's open team, the top amateur club in the Northeast region from which six players have gone on to play professionally in the MLS in the last three seasons. He also is an assistant coach with the Christos FC USL League Two team.  He previously served as head coach of the U19 Super Y team, which was a national finalist in 2023.

Belcher previously led the Chesapeake High School boys' team for five seasons, guiding them to three MPSSAA championships and one district title.

Belcher is still an active soccer player, participating in two divisions of the Anne Arundel County Soccer League. His team recently won the over-50 state and Northeast regional championships. He was a three-year member of the NCAA Division I soccer program at Quincy College (now University). Belcher holds a USSL D Coaching License.

A resident of Pasadena, Belcher is in his eighth year as Assistant Director – Campus Card & Mail Services at University of Maryland Baltimore County.
