ARNOLD, MD – Alex Calogero scored in the 52nd minute to propel the Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team to an important 2-1 Region XX win over visiting Northern Virginia Thursday evening.
Mario Carniero celebrated his first goal of the season in the 16th minute, but NOVA answered right back in the 17th minute, seeing Jack Carroll pot a pass from Ismael Ayala to tie it up.
The tie stood until Calogero fired in his own rebound, collecting his third game-winner on the year.
NOVA pressured AACC late, but keeper Brenden LeMaster made six second-half saves to preserve the win. LeMaster finished the evening with nine stops in his fifth win of the year.
The Riverhawks (7-5-1) host Division I Harford on Tuesday, October 15 at 7 pm.
