Raptors Edge Men's Soccer in Season Opener

GERMANTOWN, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team was edged late, 2-1, in the Riverhawks' season opener at Montgomery College Monday afternoon. Elijah Piper scored his first career goal for AACC.

After a scoreless first half that saw AACC keeper Ryan Smith make five stops, Montgomery got on the board in the 62nd minute.

Trevor Militello assisted Piper's tally as the Riverhawks evened up the score in the 85th minute, but Christopher Garcia gave the Raptors the go-ahead goal with just two minutes left to play.

Overall, Smith finished the game with eight saves, as Montgomery outshot AACC at a 23-8 clip. Both teams totaled six corner kicks.

AACC is back in action next week hosting Essex at 5 pm on Friday, September 6th in the Riverhawks' home opener.
