No. 1 Harford Tops Men's Lacrosse

ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team dropped its Region 20 opener to top-ranked Harford Community College, 31-6, Wednesday evening at Siegert Field.

The Riverhawks got three goals from Tyson Miller and two from Sahil Lengade. Aaron Herdt added a goal and an assist, while Jordan Fanzo tallied three assists.

The Riverhawks (3-8) scored the first goal of the game, but saw the Owls use a man-down goal to spark a three-goal run. Miller broke up that spurt with his first of the game, and Herdt later halted an 11-0 Harford run with a loose ball pickup and overhand shot with 3:09 left in the half.

After an 8-0 Harford third quarter, Lengade opened the fourth quarter with a low-angle shot from Fanzo across the crease.

Miller scored back-to-back goals 1:13 apart midway through the fourth, first from Herdt, who carried the ball around the back of the cage before finding Miller at the goal mouth, then again from Fanzo for a man-up goal with 5:07 left to play.

Parrish Fleming made 13 saves in 43:47 between the pipes before giving way to Robert Duda, who finished out the game with seven saves. Harford outshot AACC, 74-22, in the game.

Tristan Giesbrecht took over faceoff duties for James Kavney early in the game finishing 6-for-28 against a rotating Harford crew.

Jake Howard picked up three caused turnovers and Jameson Macdonald had two as AACC forced the Owls to their highest turnover rate this season (21).

The Riverhawks continue Region 20 play on the road at Howard on Saturday, April 5, and at CCBC Essex Wednesday, April 9.
