BEL AIR, Md. – The top-ranked Harford Community College men's lacrosse team dealt Anne Arundel a 29-4 loss in NJCAA Region 20 action Saturday afternoon. John McElhenny had a hat trick in the game.
Sam Barrett scored the other goal for the Riverhawks (4-5), and also picked up an assist. Logan Wheeler and Justin Sampson added assists.
Harford (6-0) opened the game with four straight goals before McElhenny broke up the streak with an unassisted goal at 7:21 of the first. The Owls went on a 10-goal run spanning the first and second quarters until Barrett fed McElhenny for his second goal at 13:06 of the second.
McElhenny scored a man up goal, assisted by Wheeler, at 10:37 of the second before Harford again went on a 10-goal run. Barrett stopped the streak off an assist from Sampson to close out the third quarter. Harford added four goals in the final frame.
AACC keeper Parrish Fleming made 13 saves in three quarters of action. Rocco Gargano made two saves and allowed four goals in the final quarter.
Harford led in shots and groundballs. AACC went 12-21 on clears. Jack Schiavone won seven faceoffs for the Riverhawks.
AACC is back in action on Wednesday in a 6 p.m. game against No. 3 CCBC Essex at Siegert Field.
