ARNOLD, MD – The No. 8 Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team never trailed in the Riverhawk's 21-12 win over visiting Jefferson Community College. Trevor Collier led the Riverhawks with a career-high 11 points on eight goals and three assists, adding six groundballs and a caused turnover.

Nick Barton added a career-high six goals for AACC, while Sam Weisshaar scored three goals and assisted three others. John Thibodeau scored twice and assisted three others. Zachary Burns and Matthew Kramer each added a goal.

AACC outshot Jefferson at a 45-31 clip, and won the groundball battle, 56-39, led by seven from long pole Niles Tinsley, who went 10-15 at the faceoff x. Specialist Bryan Granados went 11-19 at the x.

AACC's defense had a day, limiting the Canoneers to just 20 shots on goal. Mike Rogers recorded four caused turnovers, while Joe Threatt added three. Tinsley and Jaedan Henson each caused two turnovers, as did Weisshaar and Barton.

Hugh Edwards earned the win with three first-half saves. Cole Simmons stopped five shots in the second half.

The Riverhawks led, 4-1, less than six minutes in, but a three-goal run by the Canoneers saw the game tied with 2:40 to play in the first. Thibodeau found Barton for a man-up tally to complete the hat trick and push the Riverhawks back ahead with 1:12 left in the frame.

AACC stayed just ahead through the second as Weisshaar and Collier each scored twice after Barton got things going.

Leading 9-7 at the break, Barton got on the board again just over two minutes in and Collier scored an impressive around-the-world strike push AACC ahead by four before the teams traded goals for the bulk of the frame. Collier potted his fifth goal with 3:34 left, and Weisshaar found Kramer right out of the sub box for a long-range laser 24 seconds later for a 15-10 Riverhawks' lead at the end of three.

Collier and Thibodeau each assisted the other's goal to pen the fourth and push the Riverhawks ahead by seven. Jefferson came within five with back-to-back goals, but AACC closed out the game with four goals in the final 2:25.

The Riverhawks (3-1) are off until a 5 pm home game against Brookdale CC on March 20.
