Cantrell Records Double-Double in Loss to Howard

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College freshman guard Michael Cantrell recorded his first career double double Wednesday evening in an 89-67 loss to Division II Howard Community College. Cantrell, who also recorded a team-best four assists, scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the Riverhawks' Maryland JUCO opener.

Joseph Chase, Jamar Young, and Davon Jones joined Cantrell in double-digit scoring. Chase and Young recorded 12 points each while Jones led the team in scoring with 14.

The game was close early in the first half, but the Dragons doubled up the Riverhawks over the final eight minutes to take a 43-29 lead into halftime.

A four-minute scoring drought saw the gap widen to 27 points with just over eight minutes left to play, and the Riverhawks couldn't recover.

AACC poured in six of 10 three-pointers in the second half as five different players hit from beyond the arc. Howard shot the ball at 50% overall in the game.

The Riverhawks are off until Monday, November 25th when they travel to Division II Hagerstown for an 8 pm game.
