Team falls to CCBC Dundalk, But Dentley On Top for Conference Rankings

DUNDALK, MD – Riverhawk men's basketball falls short, 85-91, to the Lions of CCBC Dundalk Wednesday evening.  The NJCAA DII Region 20 team handed the Riverhawks their third loss this season, putting AACC at 2-3.

The midweek match-up began with a bold start for the Lions as they jumped out with a 15-5 run over the Riverhawks, and as the first twenty minutes concluded AACC was still behind, 37-30.

Needing to turn it around, it was AACC's turn to set the pace as they flipped the switch and went on a 17-5 scoring run of their own over CCBC Dundalk, taking the lead 63-62 with eight minutes remaining.  As the up and down battle continued it was ultimately CCBC Dundalk who came out on top with the 91-85 win.

Anthony Frazier (Washington, DC/Arundel) had 19 points for the Riverhawks, Larry Stevenson (Charleston, SC/Sigonella) had 10, but it was Marcus Dentley (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) leading for AACC with 35 points and 13 rebounds.  This will mark Dentley's third double-double this season.

For points per game, Dentley (with 28.2 ppg) now finds himself ranked No. 1 among the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference.  With the addition of his 13 rebounds last night, Marcus also now rounds out the top 5 in the conference for rebounds, averaging 10.2 per game.

Next match-up for the Riverhawks will be a home contest against the 6-0 Lakers of Garrett College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in the Jenkins Gymnasium of AACC.
