Pohlman Named NJCAA Pitcher of the Week

ARNOLD, Md. – Anne Arundel Community College sophomore pitcher Evan Pohlman (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) has been named the NJCAA Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Wednesday afternoon. Pohlman struck out a career-high 10 batters against Garrett College on March 22.

Pohlman recorded the first nine outs of the game via strikeout and allowed zero runs on two hits against the Lakers, who average more than 10 hits per game. With the win, Pohlman moved to 3-1 on the season.

Pohlman is 3-1 in four starts this season, pitching 21.2 innings in five appearances. He ranks fourth in the region in strikeouts per nine innings, and has a 4.15 ERA. In his last two appearances, both five-inning starts, Pohlman has struck out 19 batters and allowed six hits and three earned runs.  

AACC is 15-13 overall and stands in fourth place in Region 20 East Division at 9-9 in divisional games. The Riverhawks are 10-5 in home games at Skip Brown Field; they return home to face Montgomery in a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday, March 30.
