Game Notes
It was a brutally windy day for the MD JUCO & Region XX match-up between the Owls and host Riverhawks. Getting the first run on the board, the Owls would take the lead 1-0 in the top of the 2nd but with Ryan Richardson (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) holding his own on the mound for AACC – it would be the lone early run scored for PGCC as the Riverhawks would take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 3rd.
Tony Davis (Waldorf, MD/North Point) and Blake Rebstock (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) would be the pair of third inning runs for AACC with RBI credited to Brady Ward (Odenton, MD/Arundel) and Leonard Lehner (Edgewater, MD/South River) which would be enough to stay on top until the top of the 5th where the Owls would respond with a single run to tie the game at 2-2.
The tight play between the two teams would take an aggressive turn in favor of the Owls in the top of the 8th as a double and a single would produce 4 runs before AACC was able close out the inning.
With the Owls' grabbing two more runs in the top of the 9th, the Riverhawks would have their work cut out for them, trailing 8-2 in the bottom of the 9th. Lucas Boulter (Laurel, MD/Meade) would RBI single to center field scoring Chris Clyde (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) and with the bases loaded Noah Rafsky (Honolulu, HI/Granite Baptiste) would be walked, scoring Brady Ward, cutting the Riverhawk deficit to 4 runs.
Despite getting themselves in great position to keep the rally going, the Owl relief was able to close it out – earning Prince George's Community College the 8-4 win.
