Men's & Women's Cross Country Battle Weather at Don Cathcart Invite

SALISBURY, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's and women's cross country teams ran at the 34th Annual Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University Saturday. The teams battled windy and rainy conditions in their third race this fall.

On the women's side, Baily Healy ran the 6k in 27:45.3, finishing second among community college entrants. Overall she placed 49th in the 83-runner field. Noelle Somers and Ella Woodberry finished less than a second apart with Somers finishing in 73rd place with a time of 32:54.0 and Woodberry just behind at 32:54.8. Amanda Wright ran her first race for the Riverhawks with a time of 35:43.4.Host Salisbury took top team honors, and Shenandoah's Erin Atkinson won the individual title with a time of 22:47.5.

Paul Watson led the men's squad, finishing in 39th place with a time of 29:13.8 in the 87-runner field. Spencer Woodbury came in 64th place with a time of 31:38.1. Trent Palmer finished with a time of 34:17.9 in 71st place, and Elijah Antonious finished 86th with a time of 45:01.2.

Host Salisbury swept the top seven spots in the race en route to winning the team title. Jason Cave led the Gulls with a time of 28:18.6.

AACC is back in action on Saturday, October 15, at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational hosted by Gettysburg College. The women's race starts at 10 a.m. and the men's follows at 11 a.m.
