
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College athletic department, in conjunction with the Office of Student Engagement and the Student Government Association, celebrated its institutional award winners at the annual Impact and Excellence Awards Thursday evening at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Annapolis.
The Athletic Department honored 13 student-athletes and one staff member for excellence on the field, in the community, and in the classroom. In addition, four student-athletes and two staff members were recognized with awards from the College.

Louis L. Siegert – Outstanding Student-Athlete on a Women's Team
This award recognizes the student-athlete on a women's team across all athletic programs for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field or court.

Bruce Springer Appreciation Award
This award recognizes a non-student-athlete who has demonstrated dedication and exemplary service to AACC Athletics. The award is named after Bruce Springer, who served 45 years at the college as an instructor, coach, coordinator of athletics and athletic director.

This award recognizes the scholar-athlete of the year on a women's team for their accomplishments within the classroom. The award takes into consideration credits attempted in the academic year, total credits earned, grade point average, academic rigor and additional service to the College, while balancing the requirements of being a student-athlete.

This honoree exemplifies the goals of SAAC by their extraordinary commitment to helping organize and execute community service initiatives, by serving as a leader within both their team(s) and the athletic department, and by contributing to the improvement of the student-athlete experience at AACC.
