Race Notes

              The Riverhawk women's cross-country team have returned home after concluding their season at the 2018 NJCAA DIII National Championship meet this past Saturday morning (11/3). The meet was hosted by Holyoke Community College and took place at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.

               AACC had five runners amongst the field of 125, placing tenth out of fourteen as a team. Pushing through the wet and rainy 5k course, Emily Jacobsen (Harwood, MD/South River) would finish first for the Riverhawks with her time of 22:35, as Leslei Garcia Mendez (Crofton, MD/Arundel) came in at 24:29 directly followed by Madeline Fitzgerald (Shady Side, MD/Southern) at 24:34. Jacquelyn Hamelryck (Kabwe, Zambia) would finish at 26:00, and Heather Verdin (Severn, MD/Old Mill) would come in at 27:07.

              The Riverhawks finish with an impression season as DIII Region XX Champions, MD JUCO Runner-Up, as well as Jacobsen earning MD JUCO Conference Athlete of the Month in September. Post season athletic and academic accolades still to come.
