Softball Runs Past Cecil in Region Doubleheader

ARNOLD, Md. -- The Anne Arundel Community College softball team swept Cecil College Wednesday in NJCAA Region 20 divisional action, defeating the Seahawks twice in five innings, 15-0 and 20-3. AACC matched a season-high in hits in the second game with 18.

Game One

A strong start put AACC in the driver's seat as the Riverhawks tallied six runs in the first inning. They didn't let up, scoring three in the second, four in the third, and two in the fourth. Pitcher Kendall Thomas struck out eight while allowing just three hits. She was equally effective at the plate with a home run amongst a 2-for-4 effort with three RBI.   

Game Two

The Riverhawks gave up three runs to the Seahawks in the first inning, but scored multiple runs in every inning the rest of the way to secure the win, pounding out 18 hits in the process. AACC capitalized on four Cecil errors in the third inning to score nine runs to retake the lead.

Starting pitcher Makayla Blake struck out four and walked two on five hits in the complete game win. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI – three coming on a double to right in the second inning.

AACC closes out the regular season Saturday at home with a doubleheader against Region 20 divisional opponent Chesapeake.
