ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College softball player Alyssa Smith has been named the NJCAA Region 20 Division II Softball Co-Player of the Month for games in March, 2022. Smith opened the season on an eight-game hit streak and posted a .574 batting average in the month.

Smith started all 17 games in the outfield, recording 32 putouts and four assists with zero errors. She hit safely in 14 of 17 games, posting a .607 on base percentage. She recorded 10 games with two or more hits, three 3+ hit games, and a pair of 4+ hit games.

She went 31-54 at the plate with 12 extra-base hits: eight doubles, two triples and two home runs, boasting a .907 slugging percentage. She drove in 14 RBI on the month, and struck out just three times.

Smith left just eight runners on, and was 9-of-10 in stolen bases.

AACC is in action three times this week, first hosting Montgomery College at 3 pm on Monday, April 25, in a key Region 20 matchup. The Riverhawks then travel to Howard on Wednesday, April 27, for their final Region 20 games, and wrap up the week with a single game at Navy Thursday afternoon.
