Four From Softball Named All-MDJUCO

ARNOLD, MD – Four members of the Anne Arundel Community College softball team have earned All-MDJUCO honors, it was announced recently. Jaclyn Nevins, Courtney Croson, Courtney Maurer, and Sierra Fowler all collected all-conference accolades for the first time.

Nevins earned a spot on the first team at both pitcher and infield. Offensively the freshman led the team in hits, home runs and batting average. She was the team's primary pitcher, starting eight of 14 games in which she appeared. She struck out 54 batters in 64 innings, ranking her third in strikeouts in the league. She finished with a 5-4 record and a pair of saves and ranked third in the conference in ERA.

Croson was named to the first team at outfield after leading the team and ranking second in the conference in stolen bases and ranking second on the team hits. Her late-season 10-game hit streak aided the Riverhawks in their seven-game win streak in April.

Maurer earned honorable mention accolades at catcher. The crafty lefty hitter drew the most walks on the team and ranked second on the Riverhawks in extra base hits. Defensively, she only allowed three passed balls in 16 games played.

Fowler, a first baseman, earned a spot on the honorable mention team. Her bat came alive toward the end of the season as she had five multiple-hit games in the month of April.

AACC finished the season with an 8-10 record and a 5-6 mark in conference play.
