Softball Extends Win Streak to Five After Sweep at Harford

BEL AIR, MD – The AACC softball team extended its win streak to five games with a sweep of Harford Monday afternoon. The Riverhawks won the first game, 6-1, before taking the second, 13-0 in five innings. Jaclyn Nevins struck out 10 batters in the opener for her fourth win of the season.

Kelsey Smith followed up a two-run single from Skylar Storm with an RBI single to give AACC a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Courtney Croson sent a triple to left in the fourth to score Rhiannon Claw to extend the Riverhawks' lead to 4-0. Croson again sent a run across in the sixth with a single to left before Nevins plated the Riverhawks' sixth run with a sacrifice fly.

Harford managed one run in the sixth with an RBI single. Prior to that, the Riverhawks limited the Owls to just three baserunners in the game.

In the nightcap, the Riverhawks cranked out 11 hits and stole four bases en route to the five-inning win.

AACC used four hits to plate three in the top of the first before exploding for eight runs in the third. Besides benefitting from five Harford errors in the frame, the Riverhawks had four hits in the third as Claw drove in two with a single, while Nevins and Storm each hit two-out RBI singles. Croson led off the inning with a single before walking in her second at-bat, coming across to score twice.

Nevins and Storm each picked up three RBI in the game.

Smith improved to 2-1 in the circle with the win, striking out three and walking one while allowing five hits in five innings.

AACC travels to College of Southern Maryland on Wednesday for a 3 pm doubleheader.
