The Riverhawk women's softball team dropped two games against conference (MD JUCO) powerhouse Seahawks of Cecil College this past Sunday afternoon (3/25). Undefeated in the conference, the Seahawks bested the Riverhawks with some early inning action of each game that AACC was just unable to overcome.

Game 1 Notes

Kaitlyn Nutwell (Deale, MD/Southern) would step up as starting pitcher for the Riverhawks, facing an array of aggressive batting by the Seahawks. Unfortunately for the Riverhawks, Cecil's assertive base running paired with 4 hits in the inning, gave the Seahawks an early 4-0 lead before AACC would find the third out in the top of the 1st.

The Riverhawks would earn one run back in the bottom of the 1st, as an RBI credited to Katherine Rosati (Crofton, MD/Arundel) for her single that drove Nutwell home. With just two hits, and 2 LOB, AACC would remain down 4-1.

The Seahawks consistent hitting would continue even as Ashley Feeney (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) would step in to pitch for AACC. Holding Cecil to a scoreless inning in the 5th and just 1 run for the 6th, the Riverhawks found themselves down 12-6 in the bottom of the 7th.

Able to close it out, Cecil earned the victory of game one, 12-6, over the Riverhawks.

Game 2 Notes

Riverhawk Logan Endley-Abbott (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) would start as pitcher for game two of the regional and conference double-header. In similar fashion as they began the day, Cecil College would go on to score 4 runs in the top of the 1st, capitalizing on some unfortunate errors made by AACC.

Powering their way to start the second after keeping the Riverhawks scoreless in the 1st, the Seahawks would score 5 more runs in the top of the second to take a 9-0 lead.

The Riverhawks would not find the score board until the bottom of the 4th inning where Katherine Rosati would step up and power a home run way beyond the fence to open the line-up. With some momentum in their favor, AACC would score one more run before Cecil was able to close out the inning.

The Riverhawks continued with their energy on defense as they shut down the Seahawks to a scoreless 5th inning, leaving it up to themselves to prevent an 8-run mercy lead. With some unfortunate pop-fly balls, the Riverhawks were unable to get a run in and Cecil would earn the victory for game two, 10-2, after 5 innings.
