Men's Soccer to Host Region 20/Mid-Atlantic District Tournament

ARNOLD, MD – The fifth-ranked Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team will host the NJCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic District Tournament at Siegert Field October 27 and 29, 2022. The top seed Riverhawks will face fourth seed Allegany College of Maryland in the first semifinal at 4 pm on Thursday, October 27.

Second seed Prince George's Community College will face third seed Oxford College of Emory University in the second semifinal at 6 pm Thursday, October 27. The two semifinal winners will face off at 1 pm on Saturday, October 29.

The district championship winner will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament, November 9-13, in Batavia, N.Y. The Riverhawks are looking to secure their second consecutive district title and bid to the national tournament.

In addition to the district title being handed out this weekend, the best finishing Region 20 team will be crowned the Region 20 champion. AACC won the title in 2021.

AACC comes into the tournament with a 9-4 overall record. Against divisional Region 20 opponents, AACC went 2-0, outscoring foes, 6-1, and outshooting them, 42-9.

The Riverhawks have scored 26 goals on the season led by five from Leyton Calzado, who comes into the tournament on a three-game scoring streak. Davis Bosley has added four. AACC's deep roster boasts 13 different student-athlete who have scored at least one goal this season. Mo Sary comes in as the team's top playmaker with three assists, and the Riverhawks' depth is evident again in the category with 11 different student-athletes having recorded at least one assist. Goalkeeper Edgar Garcia has been the keeper of record in every game and comes into the tournament with a 1.87 GAA.

AACC is looking for its first double-digit win season since 2016, when the Riverhawks went 12-6 finishing as Region 20 semifinalists.

Tickets for the tournament are available at the gate and cost $5 for adults. Students with valid ID and kids 12 and under are free. A cash-only concession stand will be open both days of the tournament.
