ARNOLD, MD -- Leyton Calzado scored the lone goal of the match in the 72nd minute as the No. 8 Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team defeated visiting Division II Potomac State, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Siegert Field.
The scoring play started with a long throw from keeper Edgar Garcia out to Elias Jones who chipped the ball ahead to Stiven Llano Salas as the forward maneuvered around a pair of defenders as he crossed midfield. Llano Salas then lofted the ball ahead on the outside to Calzado, who sent the ball in on the opposite side of the cage as he crashed into the box.
AACC came out of halftime on fire, pummeling Catamounts keeper Tim Bailey with six shots in the second half and generating several beautiful sets that ended in shots going just wide.
Garcia finished the game with nine saves for the clean sheet.
AACC is back in action on Tuesday, when the Riverhawks host Carroll at 5 p.m.
