Six From Men's Soccer Named All-Region 20

ARNOLD, MD – Six members of the Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team have been named All-NJCAA Region 20, it was announced recently. Sam Adams, Raphael Arias, Ryan Bolinger, Jack Castle, Nicky Llerena, and Zane Saab all earned all-region honors.

 

Adams, a freshman from Pasadena, Maryland, earned all-region honors at forward. He started 14 games for the Riverhawks this season, scoring three goals and adding an assist. At the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championships, Adams was named to the All-Tournament Team, and scored a goal against Nassau in the consolation game.

 

Arias, a freshman from Crofton, Maryland, earned all-region honors at defense. Arias started all 16 games for the Riverhawks and served as a team captain. He scored three goals on the year, including one against Nassau at the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championships.

 

Bolinger, a sophomore from Linthicum, Maryland, earned all-region honors at defense. He helped anchor the AACC defense that held opponents to a .159 shot percentage.

 

Castle, a sophomore from Glen Burnie, Maryland, earned all-region honors at midfield. The AACC veteran started 12 games this season, scoring two goals to go with four assists. He scored a goal against Nassau at the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championships.

 

Llerena, a freshman from Hanover, Maryland, earned all-region honors at midfield. Llerena was the top playmaker for the Riverhawks this season, leading the team with six assists to go with three goals. He scored the insurance goal in AACC's South District Championship victory over Oxford Emory.

 

Saab, a freshman from Crownsville, Maryland, was named one of two all-region goalkeepers. He started 11 games for AACC, logging more than 831 minutes in net with a 2.27 goals against average, .772 save percentage and four shutouts. Saab was named the Region 20 DIII Men's Soccer Player of the Month in September.

 

AACC (8-8) won the Region 20 title, the South District Championship, and advanced to the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championships for the third time in program history and first time since 2005. The eighth seed Riverhawks fell to three-time defending champion Dallas-Richland in the opening round before dropping a 4-3 game to Nassau in the consolation round.
