Weisshaar Named First Team All-American

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse attackman Sam Weisshaar has been named to the NJCAA All-America First Team, it was announced today. Weisshaar, who led the nation in goals, assists, and points, is the first All-American from AACC since 2018.

Weisshaar is the 116th men's lacrosse player from AACC to earn All-America honors dating back to 1977, and the first attackman to be named All-America since 2017. Weisshaar adds his first All-America nod to an impressive list of postseason accolades including Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO) Offensive Player of the Year, All-MDJUCO First Team, and NJCAA Region XX First Team.

"Sam is a great leader and student, both on and off the field," said Riverhawks' head men's lacrosse coach Joe Stanilaus. "He is one of the best players we have ever had here at AACC. While we will miss his presence and determination, we wish him the best as he moves on to Towson," he added.

Weisshaar led the nation in goals (42), assists (36) and points (78), averaging six points a game throughout the 2021 season. The attackman had at least two points in all 13 games this season, posting a career-high 13 points at Potomac State on April 7th with five goals and eight assists.  He also recorded two or more goals in all but two of 13 games this season, including a nine-game streak to close out the year.

In two seasons at AACC, one shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Weisshaar finished with 115 points on 64 goals and 51 assists – all in just 18 games.
