Riverhawk Golf Places Second In Conference Championship

Match Notes

              Washington County, MD - The Riverhawk men's golf team placed 2nd in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO) Golf Championship match this past week (4/26). Hosted by Hagerstown Community College, the match was played at Beaver Creek Country Club with golfers from AACC, Allegany College of Maryland, College of Southern Maryland, Garrett College, and Hagerstown Community College.

              Falling to the Hawks from the College of Southern Maryland by just two strokes (CSM 345, AACC 347) it was a tight match, and a commendable second place finish. Jonathan Reeder (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) would shoot an 81 on the day, leading not only just for AACC but finishing him first overall. Ryan Brophy (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis Area Christian School) would finish tied for second overall just one-stroke behind (82) fellow Riverhawk, Reeder. Lance Jewell (Bowie, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) shot an 88, placing him 8th overall, Brian Morusiewicz (Owings, MD/Archbishop Spalding) and Michael Weller (Edgewater, MD/South River) each shot a 96, and Justin Sodeman (Bowie, MD/St. Mary's) shot 103.

              With their impressive individual finishes, Reeder and Brophy were each named All MD JUCO First Team, with Jewell earning All MD JUCO Second Team.

Up Next

              With post-season play in full swing, the Riverhawks next match will be the 2018 NJCAA DIII Region XX tournament hosted by CCAC Boyce. Match play will take place at the Links At Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania scheduled for May 13th – May 15th (check back for exact times as tournament schedule gets finalized).
