DUNDALK, MD – Behind three home runs and a successful relief appearance from Lennie Lehner, the Anne Arundel Community College baseball team defeated CCBC Dundalk, 9-8, Thursday afternoon. Lehner hit solo shots in the first, sixth and ninth innings, and pitched the last one and two-thirds innings to pick up the win.

The lefty put AACC on the board in the first before Dundalk took the lead with a pair of runs in the second.

Tripp Templeton scored on a groundout in the third to tie the game, but the Lions scored the next five runs to retake the lead, 6-2, by the fifth.

The momentum shifted AACC's way after that as Lehner cut the lead to three with his second home run in the sixth, followed by an RBI single from Ian Adams in the seventh. The Riverhawks piled on four runs in the eighth to take an 8-6 lead.

Parker Jones doubled in Lehner, who had led off the inning with a single and advanced to third on an EJ Santana single. Santana scored and Jones headed to third on a wild pitch, after which Jones scored on an obstruction call at third. Meanwhile, Daniel Yellin walked and stole second, then came around to score on a Templeton two-out single.

In the bottom of the inning, an error and a single combined with a wild pitch had Lions runners in scoring position with one out. A single to left sent both runners across for a tie game, 8-8. After gaining another runner via walk, Lehner took the mound and ended the threat with a double play at home and first.

He then hit a one-out home run in the ninth to give AACC the lead once again before allowing just one Dundalk baserunner in the ninth. Lehner finished the day 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI and four runs scored, while earning his first win of the year giving up one hit and striking out one in his closing appearance.

Starter Preston Moltz went two innings before giving way to Bradley Zoellner, who struck out four in two innings of relief. Tripp Templeton fanned three in 3.1 innings.

AACC is back in action Monday, May 3, in a single game at CCBC Essex. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
