CUMBERLAND, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team dropped a pair of games at Allegany Sunday, falling 4-3 in the opener and 6-4 in the nightcap. The Riverhawks had early leads in both games before falling in extra inning walkoffs.

In the opener, Jon Alderman doubled on an 0-2 count to drive in two runs in the first before coming around to score on a Parker Jones double. Jones finished the game 2-for-3 to lead AACC.

Allegany scored single runs in the second, third, and fourth to tie it up at 3-3. The Riverhawks had runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh, but went down in order in the eighth before an ACM home run sealed the win in the bottom half of the inning.

AJ Zeak went the distance for AACC, surrendering four runs on 11 hits and striking out six with zero walks.

It was déjà vu in the nightcap as ACM hit a home run in the eighth, this time a two-run shot, to win the game.

The Riverhawks got on the board in the second inning as Matt Johnson drove in one with a single. Cam Rees drove in two with a two-out single in the fourth for a 3-0 lead, and Jaden Jones made it a four-run advantage scoring on an error.

Allegany knotted the game up at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning and held AACC to just three base runners the rest of the way.

Starter Matt Johnson went four innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one. Preston Moltz threw three and a third innings in relief.

AACC is back in action Tuesday in a single home game against CCBC Dundalk at 3:30 pm.
