BEL AIR, Md. – The top ranked Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team opened the game with a four goal run and never looked back in a 15-5 victory over No. 5 Harford Wednesday evening. Grace Adkins and Rian Dennis each scored four goals to lead the Riverhawks (2-0).
Mia Keen and Ashlynn Deans each scored twice. Tinna Mavica, Cassidy Cook, and Shelby Blanford each added a goal.
The Riverhawks headed into the second quarter with a 5-2 lead before going on a seven goal run spanning halftime. Harford got one back late in the third, but Adkins closed out the quarter with a man-up tally, one of two by the reigning NJCAA Player of the Week in the game. The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter.
AACC keeper Madi Spencer made five saves in the game, including stopping all three shots she faced in the second quarter. AACC outshot its hosts, 34-16.
The Riverhawks controlled the draw by a 13-8 margin, led by four draw controls from Deans. Each team turned the ball over 15 times, with Adkins causing three Owls' miscues, and Deans picking up two CT's.
AACC is back in action at home on Saturday, March 30, in a 1 p.m. game against No. 2 Onondaga.
