No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Opens Up Season With Win at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The top-ranked Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team opened the season with a 16-0 win over NCAA Division III Centenary University on Wednesday, March 20. Eight different Riverhawks players scored in the game.

AACC scored three goals in the first quarter and held a 10-0 lead at halftime. After adding five in the third quarter, AACC scored once in the fourth.

Rian Dennis had three goals and an assist to go with two groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers. Ashlynn Deans and Grace Adkins each had three goals. Adkins filled the stats line with four groundballs, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Deans similarly had three groundballs, three draws, and three caused turnovers.

Cassidy Cook scored two goals and assisted another, while Alexis Melendez scored twice. Tinna Mavica was a key playmaker with three assists to go with one goal. Lluvia Owens-Pabon scored a free position goal, and Shelby Blanford added a goal. Owens-Pabon also corralled five draw controls.

Madi Spencer made five saves in her first career win.

AACC was perfect in clearing, finishing 15-15 on the day. The Riverhawks committed 17 turnovers in the game, but also caused 17 Cyclone miscues.

The Riverhawks are back in action on Wednesday, March 27, in a 6 p.m. at No. 5 Harford.
