Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics, a student shall meet the requirements  of the National Junior College Athletic Association and Anne Arundel Community College.

 

To be considered for NJCAA and AACC Eligibility Student-Athletes shall:

  • Meet the requirements of NJCAA Academic Progress, http://aaccathletics.com/files/academicflowchart.pdf
    • First year players with 0 previous full-time terms of enrollment must be a high school graduate enrolled in 12 or more credits during the season of participation.
    • First year players with 1 previous term of full-time enrollment must have at least 12 credits and a GPA of 1.75 of better.
    • First year players with 2 or more full-time terms must earn a GPA of 2.0 or better and satisfy one of the below:
      • Earn 12 credits with a 2.0 GPA or better in the previous full-time term
      • Accumulation of credits equal to or greater than the number of full-time terms attempted multiplied by 12 (#F/T x 12)
      • Accumulation of 24 credits with an associated GPA of 2.0 or better for the initial term of participation
      • Accumulation of 36 credits for a fall sport of 48 credits for a spring sport with an associated GPA of 2.0 or better. This can only be used one time.
    • Second year players must have a minimum of 24 earned credits with a GPA of 2.0 or better and satisfy one of the below:
      • Earn 12 credits with a 2.0 GPA or better in the previous full-time term
      • Accumulation of credits equal to or greater than the number of full-time terms attempted multiplied by 12
      • Accumulation of 36 credits for a fall sport of 48 credits for a spring sport with an associated GPA of 2.0 or better. This can only be used one time.
  • Maintain full-time enrollment (min. 12 credits) for the duration of the semester of the regular season.
  • Submit Official High School Transcripts showing graduation OR provide GED documentation
    • Students who graduated from a Home School program must provide additional documentation
    • Students who graduated from an International High School must have all transcripts evaluated by https://www.wes.org/
  • Submit Official Transcripts from all previously attended college(s)
  • Complete all required AACC Eligibility Compliance Forms
  • Provide documentation of a completed Physical within the last 13 months
  • Attend an eligibility meeting with a member of the athletic department

The NJCAA allows two years of eligibility within a given sport governed by the NJCAA unless eligibility has previously been exhausted. Participation includes, but is not limited to, any amount of participation within an NJCAA regular season contest, club sport at a college or university, and/or a college or university athletic program.
