No. 1 Riverhawks Run Past No. 4 Fighting Owls

ARNOLD, MD. – The top ranked Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team completed an undefeated regular season with an 18-4 win over No. 4 Harford Monday evening at Siegert Field. Julia Sokolowski scored nine goals and had three assists to go with 15 draw controls in the game.

AACC also got three goals, two assists, and five draw controls from draw specialist Savanna Reitz. Megan Meek and Jaymee Green each scored twice; Nellie Gownley and Avery Chargualaf each scored once.

The Riverhawks (7-0) started the game on a six-goal run before allowing two to the Owls. AACC closed out the first quarter with three more goals for a 9-2 lead at the break.

AACC extended its lead to 12-3 by halftime. Chargualaf scored her first career goal off a nifty pass from Ela Simpson to start the third and spark a 6-0 run to close out the game.

Riverhawks keeper Kaitlyn Evans made 10 stops in the win as AACC outshot Harford by a 32-20 margin.

AACC led 21-5 in draw controls, winning all five in the third quarter.

The Riverhawks will host Harford in the NJCAA Mid-Atlantic District Championship on Thursday, May 4, at 6 p.m. AACC will then travel to Rochester, N.Y., in search of its third NJCAA championship, with games at Monroe Community College May 13-14, 2023.
