Women's Lax Topples Keystone

LA PLUME, PA. – The top-ranked Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team dealt NCAA Division III Keystone College an 18-8 loss Saturday. Six Riverhawks scored in the emphatic win.

Julia Sokolowski led AACC with four goals and four assists on four shots. She added six groundballs and seven draw control.  Savanna Reitz scored four goals – including two free position shots - and assisted two others, also picking up six groundballs and seven draws. Bailey Makarovich scored three goals and assisted four others. Jaymee Green had a hat trick and an assist. Erin Tully scored twice and assisted another, and Nellie Gownley scored a pair of goals.

Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Evans made four saves with two groundballs in the win.

AACC closed out the first quarter on a seven-goal run to hold a 9-1 lead headed into the quarter break. Keystone rallied to outscore the Riverhawks, 3-1, in the second quarter, sending the teams to the locker rooms with AACC leading, 10-4.

The Giants scored the first goal of the third quarter, but it was all Riverhawks after that as AACC poured in six-straight goals for a 16-5 lead headed into the final frame. Keystone bookended the final frame with three goals to AACC's two.

The Riverhawks led in draw controls at a 19-11 clip, and outshot the Giants, 24-21, in the game. Keystone held a slim 23-21 advantage in groundballs and was whistled for just seven fouls compared to 23 for AACC.

Up next, the Riverhawks travel to Upstate New York for a pair of top-five matchups. AACC faces No. 5 Monroe Friday, March 31, at 4 p.m. before taking on No. 2 Onondaga at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1.
