Softball Concludes Season in Region 20 Tourney

ARNOLD, MD – The fourth seed Anne Arundel Community College softball team fell to third seed Chesapeake, 8-0, in five innings in an elimination game of the NJCAA Region 20 Division II Tournament Friday afternoon at the AACC Softball Field.

Courtney Croson and Sierra Fowler each had a hit for the Riverhawks, who had runners in scoring position in the second and fifth innings.

The Riverhawks only struck out three times at the plate, while AACC pitcher Jaclyn Nevins fanned four and allowed six runs (four earned) on four hits through four innings. Reliever Kaleigh Hurd struck out one and allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit.

The Skipjacks had three extra base hits including a solo home run in the first and a three-run shot in the fourth.

AACC concludes the season with a 22-14 record, the most wins since the then-Pioneers went 19-27 in 2013.

The Skipjacks were eliminated in the subsequent game, falling, 7-1, to second seed Hagerstown. The Hawks will face top seed Potomac State in the championship game Saturday, May 14, at noon at the AACC Softball Field.
