Volleyball Claws Past Cougars

FREDERICK, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team defeated host Frederick Community College, 3-0, Tuesday evening in NJCAA Region 20 action. The Riverhawks rallied from down seven points in the second set to win, 32-30, and handily took the first and third sets both by scores of 25-18.

Down, 18-11, in the second, AACC tied up the game at 21-21 before serving for set point six times down the stretch. With Sydni Smith serving, Jaymee Green hit a massive kill to bring the Riverhawks ahead by one, and then AACC forced the Cougars to attack way out of bounds to close out the set.

Green finished with 19 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks. Mia Keen and Emily Poole each had eight kills, while Lluvia Owens-Pabon added seven. Keen had 21 assists while Poole had three of the Riverhawks' 11 service aces. Keen added a team-high 12 digs, and Owens-Pabon had 10.

AACC continues NJCAA Region 20 action Thursday in a 6 p.m. game at the College of Southern Maryland.
